GUIDE
Size Guess CaféHow to play & tips
A speed-guessing game: how many cup sizes on the coffee-shop counter can you name in 30 seconds?
What kind of game is it?
In a coffee shop with a friendly barista, a cup appears. Is it Short, Tall, Grande or Venti? Every cup is shown at a random size, so its size on screen tells you nothing. Judge by its shape: how wide it is compared with how tall.
How to play
When you tap Start, a size guide with every cup appears for 3 seconds. Hot and iced cups are shown at the same scale, so learn how their shapes differ. Then the 30-second game begins.
Look at the cup and pick its size from the 4 buttons below. Guess right and the next cup appears at once. A miss costs 2 seconds and shows the right size. Every 5 right in a row gives you 2 more seconds.
Short is hot only. There is nothing to compare the cup with: it appears alone on a deep-green background. From the 10th cup on, cups also appear slightly tilted.
Titles
The result screen shows how many cups you got, your accuracy, your best streak and a title based on your cups: 0–4 Barista in training, 5–9 Rookie barista, 10–14 Full-fledged barista, 15–19 Veteran barista, 20 or more Legendary barista.
Best, leaderboard and sharing
Your best number of cups and best streak are saved on this device. You can check them under Best on the home screen.
Tap Share on the result screen to share your cups, accuracy and your title’s comment.
Tap Leaderboard on the result screen to see the top 10 for today and for all time, plus your own rank. Joining is optional: tap Join the leaderboard and your games are recorded from the next one. Your display name is shown to other players, and you can change it later.
Tips to get better
- Ignore how big the cup looks. Compare its width with its height: the stubbier the cup, the smaller the size; the slimmer, the bigger.
- Hot Tall, Grande and Venti share the same rim width, and so do the 3 iced sizes. Check how tall the cup is compared with its rim.
- A clear cup can’t be a Short. Narrow it down by the cup type first.
- A miss costs 2 seconds, so if you’re unsure, take another look at the shape. 5 right in a row gives you 2 seconds back.
Notes from the creator
Can you tell coffee-shop cup sizes at a glance? I turned that into a 30-second speed game. The cups are this game’s own, drawn from real proportions, and have nothing to do with any real shop. Unless you join the leaderboard, your records stay in this browser and are never sent anywhere. Available in 9 languages: Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese.
